I’m getting an error in the format of:
“Machine is moving. Not issuing MDI command: G10 L1 P10002 X-9.680796”
When trying to set up a a tool type and the X reference location. I’m using the touch screen to activate on-screen features and the keyboard to enter digits. Has anyone else seen this with the 15L?
Could it have anythng to do with the touch screen? That’s original to the lathe and has been showing signs of incipient failure - the screen takes 30 minutes or so to warm up enough to create a display.
I’ve set tools for tools 1-8 in the turret and am getting stuck with this error message while try to set the last of 3 gang tools.
The way I read that error, you are trying to issue an MDI command and for some reason, PP thinks that the machine is in motion. It sounds like something is “stuck” in the software as the flag it uses to determine if there is active motion.
Touchscreen failure would have very little to do with this unless it’s stuck on a UI element that making PP think the machine is moving.
FWIW, 2.8.3 is 5 years old. It may be a bug. Update to something more current. You can revert if necessary.
If you want to replace that touchscreen with a bigger touchscreen
I just checked the LinuxCNC manual and “G10 L1 P10002 X-9.68…” sets the X offset for Tool 10002 to -9.68…, so it looks like something glitched in the controller and munged the tool number. I cycled power and everything seems to be fine again.
FWIW, I also upgraded PP to 2.14.3.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Good to see you got it sorted out…strange software error to reference a tool number way outside the total number of tool offsets…
Yes, and some of the other tool numbers called in previous errors were even odder. We’ve had a couple power outages here so that may have had an effect.
Bunch of wierd errors happening to me on the 15L this week. My pendant stopped working, the touchscreen on a new Monoprice 15482 monitor would calibrate the 4 test touches, but none of the on-screen touch controls worked, and my MadeWithCNC pendant stopped working. Took a while to get that all sorted but seems to be working now.
