I know this is an older thread but I’d like to see more advanced strategy on setting up tools in the Slant 15L turret in combination with QCTP and/or gang tools. I started with a small CNC lathe with QCTP only. This loaded Slant 15L was a recently purchased upgrade.
For example, I recently had a series of 4” long parts with 3.85”OD, 3.55”ID mat’l extruded 6061 T6511. I started with a pipe extrusion 4.5” long in a chuck. It needed to be faced, bore to 4”, OD turned 4.1”, parted off. Then as a second step, reset Z=0 to the chuck, flipped the parts and face to length.
I struggled to place the bore bar in a position that it didn’t interfere with the part when using turret tools. Some of my issue was visualizing fusion retracts moving the whole tool set, when simulation shows only the current tool.
So any advice, tips and tricks there would be helpful.
