Torquing bolts for micro head alignment

Ultra precision traming. I am trying to get my mill almost perfectly level and I notice that there are 3 bolts on each side of the column and head. Is it possible to use these bolts to cross torque the column and head in a way that will allow for very fine angular adjustment? Is that the intention of having 3 on each side? If my math is correct my mill head is at 90.07 degrees on X and 89.913 on Y.

Harold,

There was no thought of using the headstock bolts for alignment of the spindle tram, in fact the taper pins in the headstock are directly fighting against doing so. Using the headstock bolts to tram around the A axis could theoretically be done, but there’s no repeatable way to tram around the B axis.

Thank you,
Norman
