Newbie here. Lately I’ve been having trouble with my ATC. Either it’s misaligned or there is lag between the ATC’s movement and when the collet opens up that’s been causing the tool fork to get snapped off. While I unravel this mystery I would like to do my tooling manually. My question is, with the ATC installed, can I do my manual tooling by toggling the open/close collet button under the ATC tab through PathPilot?
Yes. There is also a button on the side of the ATC motor box that will perform this function.
Also, it sounds like you either have too low of air pressure or your power draw bar needs attention/adjustment. (From what I can gather with limited information)
Been there done that (ATC forks exploding on my 440).
Keep your hand on the max velocity slider during a tool change to slow down the movement or stop it and see what/where the issue is. Alignment needs to be spot on and if you have a loose PDB and tighten it up, you probably need to redo the whole alignment.
Also, forks can get “springy” as you “bork” a tool change and will need to be changed and nylon bolts replaced/tightened, so there are a bunch of things you need to check and align before it works within specs at all times and in all positions…
