[Speeds & Feeds] PCNC 440 End Mill Kit for Aluminum #1

First time making a cut on my PCNC 440. Looking for some pointers on entering the speeds and feeds information into my tooling library in Fusion 360. I am cutting Aluminum 6061. My tool set is the End Mill Kit for Aluminum #1 (PN: 37377). I would appreciate any data you might be able to provide.

Alternatively, I should try provencut.com?

I’ve had pretty good luck with proven cut. I don’t take it as gospel but it can be a good jumping off point. I usually roll the feed rate back to ~60% to get started then walk it up from there.

Alternatively, I think a lot can be learned buy gathering up some material scraps and do some experimenting.

this also applies here.

What happens when Provencut doesn’t have your cutter, CAM or machine? You have to fiddle with something “close”…

Provencut is a “fish”. Learning F&S fundamentals and how to use a F&S calculator is “learning how to fish”. I was able to figure out feeds on a bigger machine after puttering around on the xsTech and 440 with reasonable confidence.

Millalyzer has the 440 model already if you want feed and speeds that are not just based off HP/Torque and also factor in the machine rigidity.

FSWizard is simple and should get you in the ballpark for any of those in that set. It’s what I started with. You will use 3/8” and smaller. Trying to make the 1/2” EMs work on a 440 will only end in tears.

This is what you want to do…look at the Tormach YouTube video of the Shearhogs being tested by Jason…it’s a few years back…that’s exactly what he does…chews through a piece of round stock with different step down and step over and plays with feed…
