Solid Model for Tormach tail stock AND, OR use of China & Taiwanese (Amazon) tail stocks

Hey Guys, looking for a good tail stock option for my next setup. Does anyone know if the Tormach (Med) tail stock is available somewhere for download? OR a detailed drawing with dims? I looked on the Tormach site and did a Google serch but dont see anything. I need the medium one.

Also, has anyone used these China & Taiwanese (Amazon) tool stocks to aid in additional support for 4th axis work? Need to support my next part (an airsoft carry handle upper receiver) on the Micro Arc. I feel like this import, Amazon tail stock, would work just fine. Im also considering a custom-made one as shown in my screenshot, but trying to avoid it if possible, would rather just buy one. ?

Thoughts, Input, use case you have used one of these?

I’ve used the Tormach adjustable tailstock with my old larger 8” 4th and it worked fine. Also the steady rest off my 12” lathe to support tubular parts. I’ve not tried with the micro-arc, but don’t see any reason it would be different, except lower to the table.

I have a $75 off brand one that is good quality, the problem with it was that the mounting holes don’t let it line up with the micro arc. The tormach adjustable medium one is the one I always use. It lines up ez. The body is a bit tall though. It is sturdy and easy to adjust. With the micro arc on the 10mm recommended mounting plate the tail stock is all the way down in the height slot. Like 99.98% of the way down, you have to unscrew the height screw adjustment all the way until it’s not threaded in the height adjustment bolt to get it down. Just get the tormach one.

I don’t care for the Tormach adjustable one myself. I found that it’s too tall for a lot of things I was trying to do with it. I was fortunate enough to end up with a Bison 100mm tailstock as a freebie. It was too short to use with the microarc on it’s own, but a bit too tall to put on an appropriately thick subplate so i ended up facing a bit off the bottom, then mounting it to a subplate. That lets me position it any distance from my microarc on my subplate and not have to worry about dialing it in every time.

Thanks for the input, guys. I like the Med Tormach one for better support, but I do agree and was concerned with the overall height; it seems like it would be getting in the way of the spindle? Good for some applications, but not for this setup.

Gunna go with this one mounted to a subplate.

I thought I would post this in case someone comes across this post in the future looking, its similar to the Tormach one.

Sherline sells a small tailstock; it’s a bit light duty and only ~3” to centerline, but could be fitted with a riser. Pretty low profile, I think.

Thanks, I have 2 shirline lathes and a mill and have one of those tail stocks, its way too lightweight for what I need.
