SMW Soft Jaws CAD file

Hello Everyone

I’m looking for some assistance with making soft jaws for my SMW Gen 3 Mod vise. does anyone have a fusion file of a set of these Jaws that they be willing to share, I’m not sure on the design of the slot in the bottom of the taper.

If anyone could help I’d be very grateful.

I think most people just download the cad model from the SMW website and make them from that model.

I’d have to look at my model, or my actual jaws to get the specific dimensions I used, but the slot isn’t anything fancy. Create a slot that’s the same width as a clearance hole for the screw (you can look this up in a drill table or machinist’s handbook), and roughly 2xD long. The longer the slot is, the more travel the jaw will have BUT the less bearing surface you’ll have between the screw and the jaw as you tighten it.

Really though, since you already have the vise, just measure the slot on your existing jaws and you’re done. The softjaws use exactly the same geometry.
