Shutting of the screen

Is there an Admin command or other method that will allow me to shut off the monitor. Often, I run a job and will step away from the machine for some time before returning. Just curious if there is a way to make the screen go blank. A screen saver of sorts.

Separate screen or console? With a separate screen you could turn it off, but if its a touch screen or has USB stuff plugged in, they might re-enumerate when powered back on. Might be a good idea to disable touch while it’s off too as you wouldn’t want somebody coming by to wipe goo off the monitor and accidentally messing with things.

I leave my machine running unattended all the time (proven programs only of course). I just leave the screen on. I’ve had the machine since November of 2019 and the screen still works just fine. The days of screen savers are largely behind us at this point. I would say don’t worry about it.

What @Ian_Vivero said. The machine is using far more power than the screen. There’s not really a screen burn-in issue with LCD. I’m running on a $100 secondhand touchscreen and I have seen LCD monitors still running to this day that are the first generation of that tech.

For the record. There isn’t a way to turn off just the screen on any of our operator consoles

Thanks guys… appreciate the insight.
