While nearly all US residences are on 220 or 230v circuits, many rental units, sheds and apartments do not have it or expose it and/or have landlords and insurance agents that take a very dim view of DIY electrical work.
A transformer will be of no use unless there’s an outlet with sufficient amperage. The reason the 1100 uses 220 is it wants more power than a standard US 110v outlet is rated to supply.
Presumably if the OP got hold of a 770M spindle motor and VFD (it appears Tormach sells both), they could tell PathPilot they have a 770M with extended travels, although there may be a lot more rewiring involved than that. I would consult with them directly.
