I have several different probes (Tormach Passive Probe, Haimer, Co-Ax Indicator) and use all of them frequently. Since I was wondering if there’s any significant difference in accuracy between them I setup a little experiment, indicating a circular outside diameter (boss).

Thanks for the comparison. I love using the passive probe in my 440. When I was learning manual milling I got pretty good at using the edge finder but for finding the center of round bosses the coaxial was very accurate.
Much appreciated. I don’t think it has me convinced to buy a Haimer or coaxial.
You mention you test your probe runout every 6 months. What was not explicitly mentioned in the video was if you checked all the devices prior to the test to confirm they are all indicating the same…
I received several comments/questions on YouTube regarding the process to minimize runout for the passive probe and Haimer.
In order to address those I published another video about this topic (“Probes - Update”) on YouTube.

Thanks for the reply…the follow up video was excellent and answered my questions.
I may give your protocol a shot at some point when I’m done with all the other “to do” projects with the two non-Tormach probes I’ve been playing with..
