Updated to V2.14
On startup, I get:
May have lost spindle orient reference, select Set TC M19 again.
What does this mean?
I do not have an an ATC.

What machine? IIRC MX machines use spindle orientation for more than the ATC (rigid tap maybe?).

Spindle encoder test is good
Maybe try removing any probes and toolsetters and such as a test if you haven’t. I had a bizarre encoder error on my 1100MX that turned out to be an unshielded tool setter interfering with it.
I’ve got an 1100MX and getting the same message and unplugging probe and toolsetter made no difference. Thinking about rolling back to 2.13
That’s what I’m thinking, rolling back. I really don’t like the screen greying out and flickering either when setting tools. Makes me nervous.
I haven’t encountered this error on my 1100MX running V2.14 (without ATC, probe, or ETC). The encoder is functioning, and I can orient the spindle using M19. However, I’ve noticed that the spindle seems to stop at random orientations. I’m not entirely certain, but I have the impression that it used to stop at the 0° position quite often, if not always. Perhaps I’m imagining this. Is there a way to configure the spindle to stop in the same orientation without an ATC?
I am getting this error too. No tool changer. 1100mx I run metric g21, electronic tool setter and passive probe as well as micro arc. The error doesn’t seem to affect anything though.
Same error here 1100mx no tool changer. I have not tapped anything since the PathPilot upgrade. Before the upgrade tapping worked fine.
I’ll run a tapping program tomorrow and check it.
I’ll chime in here too. I just upgraded to PP V2.14 and after installing and rebooting I get the error:
May have lost spindle orient refrence, select Set TC M19 again.
This machine is not equiped with a Tool Changer. I Checked the SETTINGS tab – ATC is not selected.
Using the 1100MX Knowledge Base “Spindle Orient or at Speed fails -1100MX”
The following was checked:
Inspect the Encoder Connectors and Wires at the ECM Board – OK
Match the Spindle Range to the Spindle Pulley – OK
Inspect the Spindle for Rubbing Surfaces – OK
Inspect the Encoder Head Alignment – OK
ADMIN ENCODER TEST – Passed
I’ve opend a support ticket and uploaded the Log data to PathPilot HUB for technical support. If they come up with a solution I’ll post it here.
Here is an update from Norm at Tormach Technical Support:
”Michael,
The error can be cleared and the machine used normally. This is a bug that will be fixed in 2.14.1.
Thank you,
Norman”
Cleared the error and rigid taping works as usual.
I would like to give a shout out to Norman. I filed a trouble ticket on Saturday afternoon of Martin Luther King weekend and read his reply on Sunday morning.
Just updated to 2.14.2.
Ran encoder test.
Failed spindle orient test several times before passing. Error said to check pin 2,3, in J9 connector. All good there. Haven’t run it in a while as I’m busy in CAD. I wonder if the belt was a little stiff.
I’ll check encoder gap tomorrow.
Ok, gap measurement is not in the manual.
Little help Tormach?
