PCNC1100 PDB parts?

I bought a used 1100 a few months back and have enjoyed it until today. My PDB is leaking past the lower seal, so I disassembled it to replace the seals.
Only to find the lower piston rod that pushes on the drawbar is heavily corroded on its surface, thus causing the leak past the seal. Apparently the previous owner didn’t believe in dry air!

I don’t find parts for the cylinder assemblies on Tormach’s site, only the entire PDB unit for over $1k!

Is my only other option to machine a new piston and rod assembly for that lower housing or does anyone know of another source or better fix? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the surface pitted, or just corroded? Corrosion could potentially be polished out, pitting is unlikely to be repaired easily.

There are a variety of sources for air cylinders. Without knowing the specifics of the one Tormach used, I wouldn’t think for a moment that they commissioned a proprietary part. Find the piston and rod OD, mounting hole pattern, and stroke length and look for an replacement that matches up. AutomationDirect usually has decent prices but there are plenty of other sources online. Or you could try bringing it to a local pnuematics supply company and see if they can help. Since it’s a multi-stack cylinder, there might be an option to buy just a single stage from an actual supply house.

Hi David,

The part number for the cylinder only ( No fittings ) is P.N. 31313, is $335.00, and comes with a 1 year warranty.

You can order this part by emailing orders@tormach.com, and ask for an invoice, followed by a checkout link or phone in (1-608-849-8381 Ext: 2000 ), and the orders team should be able to help you get this ordered.
