PCNC 770 Z axis messes up

Included are 2 videos of the issue.

The issue is, cycle start, the machine rapids until feed plane then its like the Z axis starts falling. I can E stop, reference the machine and it acts normal. This caused a drill to break when it got to the bottom of the hole then didn’t retract and tried to rapid to the next hole.

The Z axis is new, ball screw is new. At a loss as everything in the cabinet seems well connected.

Title of thread says 440 but your video shows an older series 770.

Someone with a 770 can comment but IIRC, some of the machines of that era have a Z-axis brake.

You can also submit a support ticket for direct support from Tormach.

Yep sorry, was late and not happy lol. Thanks.

Check the ball screw connector isn’t slipping. That seems to be the main cause of mystery-Z actions that aren’t the spindle brake at power-off thing. Especially if it was recently tinkered with as seems here.
