PCNC 1100 Series 3 Limit Switch Issue

I have 2 PCNC 1100 mills with an odd problem: the X Limit Switch light is always on in PathPilot. The weird thing is, when I push in the X limit switch, it turns on the Y limit switch light.

When I jump the terminals in the electrical cabinet for the limit switches, the X light turns off, so I know it is a wiring problem, not software. What is really confusing me is how the X switch turns on the Y light.

I have checked all the limit switches themselves for continuity with a multimeter, and they all check out. I have not checked their resistances, but that is my next step.

If anyone has some ideas on what could be the problem, I would greatly appreciate it.

Did you try pressing the Y to turn off X? Maybe they are factory backwards.

I have tried that, the Y switch lights of the Y Light in addition to the X switch triggering the Y light. And none of the switches are stuck.

Sounds like your limit switches are wired for your machine having an enclosure door switch but the option isn’t selected.

Thank you,

Norman

I will check that thanks

This was the trick. The mills used to work but haven’t for a few years. A software update or maybe even someone messing with settings must have turned it off.

A million thanks to you.
