PCNC 1100 Series 1, X Axis stuck

I have an old machine. It does not get a lot of use. I tried homing all axis. Y and Z homed fine. X did not move. I pulled the servo off and that is not the problem. I unbolted the x axis gearbox. The ball screw moved freely. When the gearbox is bolted to the table, I can not move the screw. With this I am guessing it is mechanically stuck. Any one have advice on how to get the table unstuck or loosening the gibs?

Back out the left x axis gib adjusting screw

Remove the gib locking screw on the right

Use a drift made from brass or aluminum and place it against the end of the gib, hit the drift with a Hammer…hopefully not much force will be needed to free it

Good luck

I wonder if it is a problem with the x axis limit switch being stuck in position?

If you’re going after the gib understand that the gib is like a wedge. Pushing it in locks it. Make sure you’re going the right way. I would start light as the difference between locked and adjusted is .0005” (I think, depends on machine)
Try wiggling the table as a lever and move it toward the larger end of the gib. The goal is to get one oil between the gib and dovetail so blast the oil down with air.
When I had a technician adjust my machine he would click the jog wheel .001mm toward the gib while tightening the gib screw until the table was tight. Then loosen the adjustment bolt a half turn, jog the wheel .005 toward the gib, then tighten and jog .005mm back and forth until snug.
