I don’t use Wi-Fi for a number of reasons. I am wiring directly for wired Ethernet, which is not in place at the moment, but will be in a day or two. I am interested in finding some information for networking.
Currently, there is some sort of unexpected Mesa version, and so I cannot reach a normal boot stage. It wants to update. I do have a USB thumb drive, but I have not yet looked to see if the current release of PathPilot is the required 1.9.x. Meanwhile, if I don’t use a USB Wi-Fi adapter, can I use a wired switch, and connect the console to the switch, the 770MX to that same switch, and then the switch to the Internet?
Part of why I am wondering is because I don’t know if any part of the system uses a static IP address. I’m assuming that both the console and the actual 770MX use DHCP. Whether or not the console itself provides a DHCP server I don’t know.
Is it ok to use a single switch and put everything on wired?
Should be no problem
My shop is hardwired and has a half dozen outlets for machines, cameras, tv, computer
all connected to a gigabit switch.
I have desk top icons on my cad/cam system in office to quickly connect to my 1100 mill, 24r router and 8l lath drives and send files.

1100 MX the wired interface is a static IP. I would not add anything in between the PathPilot controller and the CNC controller. You could add a USB wired network adaptor. Might have to try a few different adaptors as not all drivers are available.

Forgot to mention the 24r and the 8l controller computers only have one ethernet port used by the machines. Both of these machines required a usb Ethernet adapter and then network plugged into it. The 1100 has a older controller and does not use Ethernet connection.
Tormach sells the usb Ethernet adapters or you can buy off amazon.
It was pretty much all plug and play
