New VFD issues, pcnc 770 series 3, y stepper only one way rotation

Hi i just swapped out the vfd from tormach with the same one as the stock vfd. Afterwards the y stepper is only moving in one direction. my stepper drivers are all greeen led and i did swap the z to the y driver spot and tried it as well. still rotates in one way. anyone have any ideas?

Continuity check the wiring connectors for that motor.

I tried that as well. I did just swap the x stepper with the y stepper. And it is still turning one way only.

@Don_Yee When the X and Y motors, the X motor (which is hooked up the Y driver) is now only rotating in one direction? How does the Y motor (hooked up the X driver) act?

You need to see if the Y driver will turn the x motor both directions. If not it’s probably the driver. If the x driver turns the Y motor both directions that would confirm it.

Seems unlikely but I would check if during the swap you may hit the dip switches on the Y driver. There is one that controls the type of input the driver is looking for. In one position it looks for pulse and direction signals on separate input lines. In the other it looks for a positive or negative pulse to indicate CW or CCW direction. It should be on pulse and direction but if you flipped it, the result would be what you’re seeing.
Assuming that ends up being the case, you’ll want to check the rest of the switches on that driver as any other changes will affect your axis scaling and could also cause your stepper to burn out or have less power than it should depending on what else got changed.
