Has anyone found a Named Parameter or Numbered Parameter indicating whether Gang Tooling is ON of OFF? I can not find a reference to it in the 8L Knowledge Base nor in the Linux G-Code references.
8l requires the tool numbers and their offsets based on a master tool. if they are in a gang tool holder it will use the tool number and offset that lands on the gang plate. if the tool number and offset is one that is located on the tool post it will use that tool.
In short it does not know how or where the tools are mounted only the numbers and offsets.
That fact is quite well known, but that is not what I need to know! I need to know if there is a Named or Numbered Parameter to indicate whether the Gang Tooling Switch on the Settings Page has been turned On or Off. This would be useful when writing code to be able to know whether functions such as turning the coolant and spindle off before each tool change occured among other possibilities. In addition, I have numbered my tool table so that tools numbered 2 though 49 are tools to be mounted manually on the Tool Post while tools numbered 50 through 98 are on the Gang Pallet. Tool #1 (my master tool) is always mounted on the Cross Slide and is a 2mm Carbide Cut-off blade which can be used either in Gang or Manual Change Mode. For code which is used repeatedly, it would be nice to have one program instead of two that would work for either a Gang or Manual Setup.
Sorry, never noticed there was a gang tooling setting for 8l in path Pilot.
Guess I was thinking more about the g-code generated by my cam and how I would expect it to deal with the setup. it appears to only care about the tool number and offsets in tool table.
I see your point in the code being aware and not stopping the spindle between tool changes if tools are fixed.
