Does anyone know where to find a CAD model of the .5" Mini Shear Hog that have the insert included?
I’m curious what you will use that for?
I haven’t seen one but AB Tools might have it, they are the manufacturer
I’m going to use it to rough out aluminum 6061 on my Langmuir MR1. It has an ER20 collet system and only takes up to 1/2" tools, so hopefully this works because this is the most expensive tooling I have ever purchased!
Well, I’m a big fan of the cutter and I’m curious how hard your can push it in the mr1.
Fwiw. When I use it I just tell CAM that it is a 1 flute carbide EM
I looked for it on AB Tools’ website, but they don’t have it listed. It must be something they make for Tormach only?
I do t think you will find a cad of the insert for any modern manufacturer as the geometry is a closely guarded secret. Usually the rest of us just enter the tool geometry into the cad software. This is the normal way. If you are doing some bleeding edge physics stuff please let us know as someone might be able to fill in the gaps.
I read through the info on that mill and I’m not sure if it’s Jodi g high feed milling or 8000rpm milling but if you’re cutting aluminum at high speed it’s all about coolant. You might get better or equal results using a smaller lapped end mill as the indexable end mills tend to be rather blunt compared to aluminum geometry carbide end mills.
