I installed and trammed my seldom used microarc 4 on my 440 and placed a piece of 1.312 diameter stock in the 3 jaw. When I probed it using the wired passive probe, pathpilot displayed a measured diameter of 1.2596 over multiple attempts. How can it be that far off when it works just fine for other 3 axis work?
I’ve never used probing in PP so this is just a shot in the dark. Are you sure you’re probing it at the actual centerline height? Too high or too low will definitely cause significant error.
Thanks for the replay! It was a really simple, silly misinterpretation on my part. The 1.2596 distance was the distance between the probe and the centerline after the probe routine finished!
Now, if I could only figure out how to get the MicroArc to “wrap” and cut in real 3D without taking out a mortgage to fund Fusion I would be very happy. NYCNC makes it look so simple …
Wrapping is really quite easy. The tricky bit is full 360 wraps. That is something that Fusion needs to improve IMO.
For less than 360 wraps, all you really need to do is select the wrap option under machining type in the multi-axis tab of whatever toolpath you’re looking to use. Once you’ve done that, you select a cylindrical surface as a reference for the wrap to work off of. For pockets, I typically select the bottom of the feature but to some degree it doesn’t matter.
From there, it’s programming as per usual for the given toolpath.
