MicroARC rapid speeds? Outer ring seems to stop moving sometimes

So when I first connected my microarc 4 on my 770mx I (maybe stupidly) sent it a G0 command to make sure it was working. It seems to have really not liked this. When doing so the inner ring moves quickly but the outer ring stalls. I only tried it the one time, and since have only sent controlled feed commands, however I’m curious if there are limits to the speeds this device can handle?

I looked through the manual and there’s no mention of this, but looking at how a harmonic drive works it seems like there’s a limit of rotational speed, hard to tell how that translates to this specifically though.

Is it possible that the rapid speeds configured in path pilot are not correct for the microarc 4? Should I be being careful what gcode I send this, or review the post output to avoid damage?

@Keven_Wyld can you share a picture or video of what you are talking about? If the drive is faulting or not moving to the desired positron then you should reach out to Tech Support.

I have spun the microarc4 thousands of degrees on G0 and never saw an issue.

Here’s a video of the problem. Tormach microarc 4 issues when sending rapid commands

I guess I thought the center ring was still moving but it’s getting stuck somehow. Makes a not so nice sound also.

I thought about it a little more and opened a support request like you suggested. It really seems like there’s a mechanical issue inside the unit now that I know other people are sending rapids without issue.

Good call on contacting support
