Hello. How is the turret build going? Any updates on that?
My shop has been swamped. I finally got the turret I bought to work decent. I made the cabinet extension.
I will get back to that project in a week or 2.
Looking great. Can’t wait to see the final result. I’m currently working on creating the chip removal mechanism to clean the working area so we might have both create something really good!
Wow! You’ve done amazing work really quickly.
If you do decided to offer your version for sale, count me in. I’ll hold off on buying the Altaros (I’m in no rush, but damn, I’m growing sick of the standard tool post–it’s terrible).
Pretty interested in going this route as well. Would really open up the capability of this machine.
Why make one when you can have two for twice the price.
I ordered the Altaros turret for my 8L based on your report here, looking forward to figuring out how to adapt it and control it.
Couple questions if you have the time: how did you set up the tool change control in pathpilot and how did you wire it? Do you use a USB I/O, or some unused output from the controller? I haven’t looked into what kind of signal Pathpilot sends for a tool change when “Turret” is specified in settings, but I assume it won’t be exactly what the Altaros needs with its single solenoid. I can probably figure out how to code up a subroutine or put some manual pass through NC/g-code in my Fusion programs to send the signal it needs (something like a 2-3 second pulse that opens the solenoid then wait a second and repeat for every position it needs to rotate through, I assume?)
Also, any tips or more photos of how you did the cabinet extension? It looks great, almost like it was built that way!
Edit: oh yeah and somewhere you refer to the “10mm tools”… but isn’t the Altaros sized for tools with a 12mm shank? Or am I misunderstanding?
