ETS question again

I know how to set up the ETS, but I still cannot for the life of me understand the difference between that Z position and the Z zero on my part.

I dont understand how teaching the ETS elevation will relate to the actual elevation of my part. XS Tech router

Once PP knows the height of the ETS and you have referenced the spindle nose to the ETS then you can:

  • touch off your tool to establish tool length from the tool offsets page
  • use the ets to set z0 of your work piece from the work offsets page.

Granted, this all makes way more sense on a machine that utilizes tool holders and, therefore, has repeatable tool heights.
