Due to space limitations I could not install a full enclosure for my Tormach 770M.
In order to reduce the time for cleaning-up especially when working with nonmetallic
materials. Since I have a dust collector for my woodworking machines in my workshop already,
I designed and built a dust shoe for the CNC mill with the following features:
Fits on spindle housing of Tormach 770M CNC Mill
“See through” design (the cutting tool is visible with the dust shoe installed)
Hight adjustable to accommodate different tool lengths
I just posted an update to my dust collector/shoe.
It shows a different machining process for the top side of the clamp.
For the first version I machined the bottom side of the clamp an my CNC mill and - because I didn’t feel like building soft jaws at that point - the top side on my lathe.
Facing off on my lathe took longer than expected and also did not allow me to chamfer the outside contour of the clamp.
The updated version is now also CNC milled on the top side.
A second issue was the length of the brush. In order to accommodate short tools I wanted to have the brush shorter (45mm instead of 70mm - the shortest I could find on Amazon).
Cutting the brush shorter was surprisingly difficult and I included a tip how to do that in the update.
