I occasionally need to load fairly long tools into the 1100MX ATC. The current tool change operation performs the tool change wherever the spindle happens to be - in my case this is over the ETS, as I have G37 turned on.
I would like the table to go near X=0 before moving/spinning the tool carrousel, just in case a tool is long enough to impact stock or fixturing during the change. I do not see a place in the interface to set this, although there may be an ADMIN XXX setting somewhere.
Has anyone else seen this problem, and if so, did you find a fix for it.
in Settings there is a check box for G30 to move only in Z. This will tell the machine to move in XY when g30 is called as well. Just verify that G30 is called in your post before a tool change.
Davie, thanks for the pointer. I’ve been too booked up to track this down 100%, but what I don’t understand is if the G30 command always moves to max Z first before it moves in XY? I need the tool to retract upward, then move the table in XY so that the workpiece is no longer in the snap motion of the tool carousel when the pneumatics activate.
While we’re at it, is there a setting that instructs the machine to replace the tool in the ATC when the program reaches M30? Or do I need to tweak the post to do that?

Yes. This will retract the spindle to the g30 position then move the table in XY to the g30 position.
I am not aware of a way to store the tool except to modify your post to call for T0 before m30
