Can't get the Emerson Commander VFD controller to accept new wire....HELP needed

Newbie here; I’m installing an ATC on my 1100 S3 mill. Part of the install is to remove a wire from the T1 location of the Commander VFD, then plug another wire from the install kit into the same T1 slot. I removed the old T1 wire by pushing in on the tab above the hole with a small flat blade screw driver. However, when I attempted to plug the new wire into the same location, i cannot get it to go in. I’ve tried several times while pressing in on the slot above with the screw driver blade. CANNOT get it to go and I’m basically dead in the water until I make that connection.
I sure as heck don’t want to pay $575 for new VFD because I can’t a darn wire to go in.

ANY HELP would be appreciated. Even if it involves removing the front of the vfd to get to the T1 location wire plugs…

Help please…

Take a very close look at what’s going on with some Optivisors or similar magnification. Sometimes the spring bit that holds the wires gets misaligned and needs to be persuaded back into place.

Don’t try this until someone else can confirm because I don’t have one to look at!

Some not all VFD have 2 sets of connectors.

Update….After getting excellent help from Sam in tech support, I pulled the VFD and finally got the wire in the T1 slot. The problem was two fold: 1) I couldn’t get a small flat blade in the slot to open up the receiving hole better. 2) I realized also that the crimped ferril on the wire end was crimped “square”. I took a needle nose plier and squeezed it more “round”. It finally went in.

I remounted the VFD and problem solved.
