Anyone running an 1100mx on a GFI protected circuit?

I’m running into a strange situation where my 1100MX trips the GFI circuit breaker protecting its dedicated 30A circuit. The GFI only trips when I start the spindle. There are no problems running on a non-GFI circuit breaker instead.

This GFI breaker problem is not unique to my Tormach. My garage door opener had the same problem on a GFI breaker on a 120V circuit.

My welders do not trip the GFIs and they are much higher current devices than my Tormach.

The obvious solution is to just ditch the GFI for the circuit driving the Tormach, but before I did that, i wanted to check to see if anyone else can run their 1100mx or 1500mx spindle on a GFI and if so, what the solution was.

Ed,

The 1100MX (and all of our mills) cannot be run on a circuit with a GFCI installed.

Thank you,
Norman

Short and sweet…thank you Norman!

This. VFDs like the Tormach spindle drive are well known for tripping GFIs all the time.

I had a Mitsubishi VFD that also tripped the GFCI breaker every time it was powered up. So far as I know all VFDs trip GFCIs.
