I’m surprised this isn’t easier, especially given that PathPilot now supports USB cameras, and that includes recording the screen.
But I haven’t been able to find a way to just take a screenshot of the current screen. I had hoped there’d be a Linux Mint/Mate/Gnome keyboard shortcut for taking a screenshot, but good luck finding the right one.
Standard keyboard shortcut and utility should be installed to do this. Seemed to be able to do this on whatever distribution I have running. I don’t recall the exact steps. Break out of PP and the window/desktop manager should have something for you. Worst case scenario, you might need to install a package. Someone who has a controller booted and nearby may have exact steps…
I learned a new way to take a screenshot this morning.
PP version 2.10.0 and higher have a built in camera function, both for USB cameras and to record the PP screen. In Settings>Camera(s)>Snapshot then navigate to the page you want to grab. Once there, use the shutter button in the center right of the screen.
This will put a screen grab in the directory of the currently loaded program. If no program is loaded then it will dump into the main directory.
More details in the PP 2.10.0 release notes.
Unfortunately, that is largely non-functional, I assume because there’s no USB camera attached (imo it really ought to work for screen recording/capture anyway).
No. I can’t check that. It highlights the square in blue when I hover over it, and clicking turns it white, but it never gets into a “checked” state. I assumed this was because no camera was attached and that configuration wasn’t properly tested.
That is interesting. Do you have an older controller? PP will not allow you to turn on the PP “camera” if you don’t have enough memory to support it. In that case there is a status posted in the Camera Status box to update you.
My apologies for the confusion. On PP 2.10.x the status is displayed in the status screen. In the upcoming PP release the status will be displayed in the Camera Status page, which is where those screen shots were taken from.
