Air drawbar delay release?

Just a pondering if anyone knows about or has made something like this for the air drawbar on the e 1100. What I would like to do is be able to push the release tool button with one hand grab the tool with the other and have a 2 second delay before the drawbar releases. Because my tools are on the left of my machine I can’t grab the loaded tool and put it back without having to press the release again. Would also be great for handicapped users as it would facilitate one hand tool changes.
I have thought about using the usb board and some kind of solenoid control system but I don’t have the time to learn how to program another system.

The simplest solution would be to replace the valve assembly with one that has a selector switch or push-pull action rather than a momentary push button. Didn’t search much but a quick peruse of amazon found me this valve that would likely work well.

With any kind of time delay, I would expect the same kind of frustration as non-adjustable intermittent windshield wipers. It will always be just a little too fast or just a little too slow. Worst case there is a tool that looks like it’s seated properly but isn’t quite. If you’re measuring lengths offline that will ruin a part real quick.

How about a foot pedal like the chuck on CNC lathes? Would free up both hands.

I agree with both points in the other replies. Using the stock valve on my 1100, I have wired both a foot switch (a shrouded unit to avoid accidental actuation) and a “Maintained” push-pull button so I have everything on my own schedule - timers are usually a poor substitute for the proper control logic/hardware.

Best of luck,

Alan
