AF 50 Coolant Pump Troubleshooting

I recently acquired a used AF50 and the coolant pump is not running. Checking for power at the on of switch for the coolant pump it doesn’t seem I have any going into the switch. My question is whether the coolant pump switch is supposed to have constant power? Or whether its only fed when the band saw is actually in operation to avoid the coolant motor running a lot when the saw is idle.

I don’t know this machine but if it runs on pathnpilot the pump should only operate when the blade is running.
There should be a button for the coolant pump. If that doesn’t activate it you could have a blown fuse or a bad relay. You should be able to plug the pump into a wall socket with the right cord. If you’re blowing fuses it’s probably debris. If too much debris builds up and then the sump goes dry the debris solidifies in the pump housing.

Thanks for the reply, I ended up disconnecting the pump at the switch and powering that cord directly with 110 power. It didn’t run so I ended up buying a new pump and replacing it. It runs well now, but as you said only operates when the saw blade is running even if the switch for the coolant pump is left on.

Even if the switch is left on? Do you mean the software button on the screen or physical switch somewhere else? The software button controls a relay in the machine that turns the pump electrics on and off. If there is a switch on the pump wire it can only turn the pump on and off when the software switch is on.

This one has a physical toggle switch for the coolant pump but even if that switch is left on the coolant pump only runs when the saw blade is on. It seems that switch is only fed power when the saw motor is also active.
