I picked up a modest 3d printer recently and decided to make a number of lathe and mill accessories as my first projects. First I designed and made some handy lathe tool holder trays that hang on front of machine. I Also designed numbered knobs that thread on the tool post adjustment lock. Then I designed and printed sets of 5c collet material holding flanges that thread onto back of collets and also ones to press fit at draw tube end, in round, square and hex material stock sizes.
Some Fun projects that I wanted to share that will help with lathe operation.
Those look quite useful - thanks for making the files available.
If you turn long stock, it can be handy to use a plug to capture the stock on on the outboard end of the spindle to prevent it from whipping around. Those are pretty easy to 3D print as well.
I did full sets of draw tube material flanges that press fit in draw tube end also. I need to sort out all those files and uploaded all the full sets to grabcad. soon.
I machined a few in the past but 3d printing made it easy to do the square and hex and full sets of round. Also the ability to draw and print threads for the collets made those useful off the printer.
tbh i should have picked up 3d printer years ago. That thing has run non stop for a few weeks now.
