Hey guys, I’m wanting to upgrade my oxa tool post to the AXA on the 8L. Any suggestions like can I purchase a tool post mounting plate for it somewhere along with the AXA tool post?

We do not sell a Tormach AXA quick change holder, if you wanted to purchase a size AXA then, you would likely have to make the adapter plate yourself. On our website page for the OXA holder, we have a download for the solid model of our holder, which you can compare to the AXA you would like to buy, to design the plate:

I recently changed my 8L over to a Dorian tool post. Spend the money for a Dorian or an Aloris. You’ll never regret it. I absolutely couldn’t keep my tool post indicated square before. After switching over to the Dorian, I’ve checked it several times and haven’t had to do a thing. It’s perfectly repeatable every time which makes things so much easier when you’re doing short run stuff.
Awesome! How did you do it is it pretty user friendly installing it in the 8L? Can you send me a pic and show me which tool post you got?
Sorry I didn’t get back to you in a timely manner. I’ll take some pictures today and post them. It’s very user friendly. I actually used the original riser block and just milled it thinner to accommodate the height and then drilled and tapped it for the new tool post. I’ll try to make a drawing of what I did and post it as well.

Sorry I didn’t get back with you in a timely manner. I used the original riser block and just milled it to .812 thick. Drilled the hole rot the hold down stud dead center of the block. Ground everything square and flat so it won’t rock around and voila, a really great tool post. The nice thing with the Dorian is that you can use it like a manual turret. I posted a pic of the tool post information that’s on the tool post itself. Hope this helps.
I am in the process of upgrading my tool post to the PeWe Tools AS Multifix tool post. I will give an update once the upgrade is completed.
