First post here.
I am trying to determine the best way to get my tooling I received with my 8l lathe into the fusion360 library. I have been trying to add it all manually but the exact specifications for the “Deluxe Professional Lathe Tool Kit” that came with my 8l lathe are difficult to find and don’t seem to be on the product page. Is there a Library I can import or do I need to add each tool one at a time? if I do need to add them one at a time, are there exact specifications available?
I haven’t seen a library like you are asking for. However, if you start at the product page and drill into each tool then you will find the info you are after.
Those pages don’t seem to have ALL the specs of the tool to add to the tool library. I guess that I just need to continue to measure it with calipers, guess, etc to add each one individually unlike how it seems works for 15L users. The software has an option to add the 15L but not 8L in the machine section. This step seems more arduous than it needs to be. Maybe it’s more of a Fusion360 issue. Hopefully I will be cutting parts soon. I would rather fiddle with the lathe than the computer but that’s how it goes in the CNC world. Thanks for the response.
@Jon_Gates I have seen a lot of people get hung up trying to tell fusion what kind of machine they have and lots of other particular details that are only necessary in 0.05% of situations. The product pages show the insert characteristics which is what fusion needs most of the time. The only time I tell CAM more than that is when I have a tight spot where the tool might barely fit, otherwise your tool shape, nose radius, and clearance angles will get you started with usable Gcode.
Yes, I am working on small things and it will be a very tight fit to get the tool to clear. I am now redesigning my first project to something more simple so I can at least run a part on this lathe. after that I will come back to working on the part I really want to make. Thanks again for the tips.
