I have a question about the 4in CNC vise that works with the PCNC440 mill.
In the vise’s webpage, it mentions 10mm alignment keyways and optional vise keys.
“.390 in. (10 mm) keyway slots on bottom face with 10-32 UNF tapped holes (x6). Can be used for vise keys (optional, not included) or for attaching vise to fixture plate, etc”
I can’t find those keys on the tormach site. They are shown in the .step file/cad model of the vise. Are those available anywhere?
You can usually source them from tooling suppliers. But the ground hardened ones might cuts more than a cheap vice. You could make some easy. I have a set that came with my expensive Italian vice that are so tight in the tormach table that it’s almost impossible to fit. And some cheap ones that came with a vevor vice that slide on and give good results.
Squaring vices builds character
IME keys get a vise ‘close’ and then you might need to tap in the last thou or so anyway, so no need to hassle with press-fit keys, just make some that are decent and drive on.
The keys you are looking for were on my recent shopping list but they are listed as “not compatible with 440” because of the T-slot size…so, yeah, team 440 has to make their own or just get used to indicating in the vise faster…
