My garage is only 93” tall and online it says the typical machine envelope height is 94”. Is there any wiggle room on the 94”? Thank you.
I don’t have a 1500 but a 1100mx.
Wiggle room, like the top of the garage will wiggle when the mill head hits it. But if the cealing is 93” the door frame has to be lower than that. If you can get it in there you could always cut a hole in the Sheetrock to free up that last inch of it is indeed needed. They tend to round up on the measurements. The only other thing is if you ever need to do some maintenance where the head has to be up all the way you could have to move the whole machine.
Same, I have an 1100MX and usually the highest part is the ‘energy chain’, which is flexible, so 1" wouldn’t matter to it. Possible the 1500MX is different so best check to be sure.
Correct on the garage door opening. I was going to assemble the machine once it was in the garage and then move it around. I know the 770MX will fit in the garage without any modifications. But, I’d really like to get the 1100MX or the 1500
I got an assembled 1100MX under a 83" garage door but it was a close fit and I vaguely remember removing the Z servo and/or some other upper bits. If I get to using it soon I’ll try and look at ceiling clearance. Mine is ~97" and I don’t remember any sort of problems there.
I’d appreciate that! Thank you !
@Mack_Duffy I will post some pictures tomorrow from the showroom of the various machine heights. Of the top of my head I know that the 1100M is 93" tall (we add a few inches of headroom in the drawings) but I don’t recall the 1500.
At any rate, I’ll dig in a bit and post here for others and I’ll check in with you directly in response to your request for info.
That would be extremely helpful! Thank you!
Th reason we are all speculating is because nobody on the forum has a 1500 that I know of.
Looking at the pictures though the 1500 with the head down (as it comes shipped) looks significantly lower than the height when the head is up.
1500mx Machine footprint
Looking at the diagram I can’t tell what on top moves with the head. I’m sure someone from tormach will be on since it’s Monday.
For clarification:
1500MX:
The 1500MX is smack on 94" tall. If you want to make it shorter you would have to modify the 3" tall foot spacers but you don’t have much room before you run out of clearance for the coolant tank. Do so at your own risk.
1100MX:
The 1100MX is 90" tall including the energy chain. We added a few inched to the layout drawing to account for leveling the machine in an old garage with a broken slab.
