1100mx

Hello and this is my first post. Greetings chip makers

I have some coolant leaking from the rear of the machine. What’s the process to track down the problem? I thought to post here. Before I dig in there may be a typical problem to check first. At first I thought water was just tracking down the hose. Then I though the aggressive nature of the 1.5" face mill throwing liquid like it does. Thoughts?

We are loving the machine by the way. I suppose I could use a militance check list as well.

Run program, look for drips and backtrack? That’s how I find them. They’re usually from spray hitting something and running down although if the coolant tank isn’t properly positioned, it can leak around the edges of that.

Yeah, there’s really no specific method for finding leaks. Face mills and fly cutters are especially good at find ways to get the coolant to leak out. It could also be a loose fitting though, or any number of other sources. Only way to find it is to go looking for it.

Finding leaks can sometimes be quite tricky. It took me a long time to locate where the 1100MX enclosure was leaking, even though it was right at the front next to the coolant tank. I only discovered the source after removing the front cover of the coolant tank—it was leaking between the front and bottom panels of the stand. The paint had started cracking and peeling off at the welded seam, and apparently, it’s no longer coolant-proof. I added a piece of sheet metal to the front of the coolant tank to redirect the leaking coolant back into the tank.

Thanks Joel,

Im on it.
