1100MX ATC is grinding, failed to ref instead it kept partially moving while grinding and shaking

The whole system was recently purchased in another city and moved to our home.
We were following a Tormach guide on getting everything aligned.

When we set the atc to ref its carousel it referenced just fine, but was not centered.
Following a Tormach Troubleshooting guide we found that the tool atc could be rotated by hand when powered on (which the guide mentioned should not happen)

Per the guide we attempted to tighten the 6 bolts at the bottom, but they were not loose, and the atc could still be rotated by hand just like before when powered on.

As we were testing the atc carousel forward movement we would get periodic low air pressure warnings despite supplying 100-110 psi to the tormach.
We saw a Tormach video that makes reference to adjusting something on the left side of the ATC to resolve this, but it did not tell or show how to make the adjustment. The atc would also occasionally make a grinding noise and move in the opposite direction every few movements.

When attempting to reference the atc again, we got a horrible vibrating, grinding noise like a coupler was slipping or that there was some other mechanical reason for the machine repeatedly failing to rotate the carousel.

We removed air from the system and powered down the system to check if we can rotate the ATC Carousel by hand and checked for any binding.
The carousel moves freely and smoothly when powered off.

I am hoping someone on here knows what might be going on, and how to address it.

Thank you all in advance for your insight!

I can’t remember for sure if the carousel is directly driven by the stepper or if there is a pulley and belt system in between . Either way, sounds like one or more of the drive couplings has come loose. If that’s the case, it should be a pretty easy fix and fairly obvious once you get into the mechanics of it but you will have to disassemble a bit to get in there.

Tormach Support to the rescue!

This looks like an arcing motor connector.

Estop, remove the front cover on the front of the ATC and locate the motor connector. look for pins that look spread out like this photo. gently pry then together and retry. If it looks good ( like the 3rd pin, the pin 4 is stretched open ) , then check all wiring and make sure the crimp pins are not backing out of the connector.

Everything is running smoothly now, and I am no longer able to move the ATC Carousel when it is powered.
