I keep getting a spindle brake failure when the ATC is picking up the tool from the spindle. This happens a lot more frequently when I went to the high belt setting for the spindle. It’s as if the brake does not have enough torque to hold the position in this setting as the reverse gear ratio is lower.
How can I fix this? My machine is barely 2 month old.
I was having this issue quite a bit for a while. I ended up removing the bolt from the PDB cylinder, and sanding it to remove all the grade markings on the head of it. That didn’t completely solve the problem, but it did improve it noticeably. My theory is that the grade markings contact the drawbar unevenly and cause it to turn slightly. So the brake is functioning, but not before it causes the spindle to creep slightly out of position.
One of the more recent updates also helped. Can’t remember which one it was but I think there was a note in the changelog about the brake or spindle orientation staying active longer during a tool change.
