your PP may be corrupted
If you are running the latest version - install the prior version and try that

ill get back to you when i get off work, i took those quick over lunch, i highly doubt pathpilot has been updated since 2018, i know the machine sat for that long without use and i didnt update it at all.
I just got it in november, but would it be possible the PP version that it is running on could have become technically obsolete?
When i get home, ill make a quick program, with some random stuff and then try to recreate it in some wood so i dont have to buy new tools.
my advise
just update to the latest PP and go from there
guessing that’s what a Tormach tech would say
What you can do is put it on youtube, then put the link here.

Set start line with no prep can be a dangerous game of you are new to PP and machining. You are also on a really old version of PathPilot so I would recommend coming up to a much more current version.
Check out this video for a deep dive into the set start line function. Granted, we filmed this on a much newer version of PP
