Feature Suggestion

I’m new to pathpilot but I’ve noticed something that might help prevent tool crashes when working on the offsets / tool page.

Lets say you have the tool setter and youre on the offset/tool page and click on Tool #2 and you begin typing the description etc, and then you get to the tool length and you hit the button for it to measure the tool length.

IF you forgot to change the active tool number in the box down below you just updated the incorrect tool… The tool #2 line is highlighted but you updated the active tool instead.

My suggestion is if you have actively selected a tool from the list, and a different tool is active if the user presses the (Measure tool button) a warning popup should pop up and say.

“You have tool X selected and Tool N Active, Tool N will be updated. Continue? Y/N”

I’ve caught myself doing this a few times and thankfully I stopped it before I crashed the tool. A simple warning will save tools/parts.

Eric,

Selecting the description of a tool doesn’t do anything, the only metric that Pathpilot cares about is what tool is active. I like the idea, though, and I’d think it’d be cool to expand it to be able to select a sequence of tools to be touched off.

FYI, the Pathpilot team doesn’t actively monitor the forums to get a feature request in front of their eyes a feature request ticket should be submitted here: https://tormach.com/how-to-submit-a-support-ticket

Thank you,
Norman
