I’ve set my tool clearance to 0.125" for OD turning. I see about that in the Z axis on approach, but at the end of a cut, returning for another, clearance from the OD is less that 0.010" Doesn’t seem quite right to me. Is this a Pathpilot issue? This is a conversational program.
I can’t speak to pathpilot specifically but you’re likely seeing the difference between clearance and retract. In many CAM systems, clearance is typically used as an initial position, well away from the part. Retract is the position used between passes and is usually quite close to the part. The idea of retract is to move far enough away from the part to avoid a collision but only as far as necessary to avoid extra movement that would increase cycle time.
No I get it, OD turning conversational screen shows a green clearance line at Z and extends at a 90 deg angle for the od side. Haven’t used conversational OD in a while and just noticed it is really close on return.
